PYXIS - Unboxing at Last!

Finally got my grubby paws on a Blackmagic Design PYXIS 6K L mount!

Along with the URSA cine viewfinder, this is a basic video looking at the unboxing of this box shaped beast!

I say C-fast out of habit, the cards are of course cf express!

Kind of sad I canceled my PYXIS pre order, especially looking at the viewfinder however had to get something sooner so ended up with a Komodo X. Looking forward to seeing how this performs.

This is a very good look at this camera. Im not ordering one yet as I am fine with my Pocket Cinema Camera 6k for now, but I do want to switch over to these for my buisness. This is a really exciting camera

Dynamic range would be interesting to test, along side the ISO performance from the camera compared to something like the Pocket 4k since it has the same performance as the Pyxis according to BM and their charts, despite the pyxis having a FF sensor.

I feel like the stickers are for your business, either to stick to your door entrance or your desk or something to showcase clients you have and use the product. I don't know, I'm just guessing lol. Kinda like Credit Card indicator? ahhaah

I’d love to see battery life tests. The proposed 60w consumption seems nuts to me. Not to mention the additional power consumption from the onboard monitor, Pyxis monitor/EVF

I think my days of working with BM are behind me. Maybe I’ll look again if they roll out an 8k centric Ursa that can run on 14v and uses CFExpress for recording. But for now I much prefer the flexibility of SonyFX.

The one thing I can’t make sense of is why in the world they won’t allow you to change the mount. It shouldn’t be so complicated.

Not well known, but your DaVinci Studio license also works with Fusion Studio for free.

This is what the ursa 4.6k should’ve been. The hell is up with the 13 stops. So I’m assuming this is a version of the bmpcc 6k but is it better? Or it’s just the form factor. I don’t get this camera at all.

blackmagic is ok. had a few of them at work and when those broke after first year blackmagic was a nightmare to work with. over 4k in repairs on a ursa mini cinema thing was awesome but boy did they screw us over.

You’re left eye dominant. That’s why you naturally want to put the viewfinder on that side
