In September 2011 the bright minds at Philips had to idea to invent a light bulb that could connect to the internet.

What it should do:
1. Recreate any moment.
2. Improve the way you feel.
3. Send and receive alerts.
4. Scare the ghosts.

It had to be safe, easy to use, retrofit into current light fittings, user friendly and give quality lighting.

After a lot of developing and testing the light bulb was born. Marketers gave it the catchy name "Hue".
