Part 1 of 2 videos about Harry the Lizard in Death in Paradise. Harry is a CGI lizard and this video shows behind the scenes when Kris Marshall's character Humphrey Goodman lies in a hammock - when Harry 'jumps and lands' on Humphrey, the hammock collapses. Also an insight into how the props are used to portray movement on Humphrey's shirt when Harry supposedly 'lands' on his chest. Brief clips of Ben Miller and Sara Martins in this video too.

My departed mum loved this show and over the years I started watching it and come to love it too. To this day, watching it is a way of connecting with her.

I love this show, especially Harry the Lizard. It reminds me of when I was serving in the US Army stationed on a Marine Camp in Okinawa. We lived Marine Corps style, therefore there was no air conditioning in the building and many of the screens in the windows were missing. So that’s how my new roommate arrived which was a large gecko the size of Harry. This gecko ran around in my room all the time and made a clicking noise. I was told to be thankful because he would eat the bugs and roaches. What a memory.

Just stumbled across this video, and it’s broken my little heart. I imagined a lizard wrangler, and Harry being a number of similar tame beasties. Illusion shattered. Ah well, al least no animals were harmed in the making of… humans yes ok… animals no.

My dreams are dashed ! I honestly thought someone had spent years training a lizard to do things on command boy do I feel dumb and kinda gutted he doesn't exist and isn't living a Hollywood lifestyle on a tropical island.

I'm shocked. I totally believed Harry was a trained lizard. But having watched this, surely it would be quicker to train a real lizard than to go through all the cgi rigmarole?

Haha, love it! You know, my wife and I are pretty proud that we have never binge watched anything, BUT, on the recommendation of many friends, we thought we’d give DIP a try. You guessed it, yes, we did indeed watch all 10 seasons plus the Xmas show over the course of around 3 months; no regrets, although we did miss the various “leavers”.
