An introduction to the Ecliptic, the apparent path of the sun through the background stars over the course of year. Stellarium is used to show the motion of the sun through the background stars, and then an explanation is given for the observed phenomena.

Thank you for this video! I wonder if the fact that the horizon has been curved in these images might generate some kind of deviation in the ecliptic projection, when compared to the projection that we actually see on the sky (straight horizon). In any case, very interesting

I have a good technique. Just visualize the earth as not tilted but the orbital plane as tilted 23.4 degrees. It makes it much easier to quickly see.

Hi this may be a bit of a dumb question I am new to Stellarium how do you use ecliptic longitudes? I was looking for the moon's passage through the Zodiacs on Feb 20 2022 and Stellarium showed the Moon placed on Virgo even though all moon calendars that I looked at had the Moon placed on Libra was I doing something wrong?
