Students in the West Bank face daily threats amid Israeli raids & violence

Frequent Israeli military raids and violence are disrupting the safety and operation of schools, making it difficult for students and teachers to continue their education without fear or interruption.

Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim went to a school near Nablus and met with some of the students.

Samah Jaber is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Head of mental health unit in the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
She says Israel's military violence in Gaza and the occupied West Bank will have a lifelong negative impact on Palestinian children.

I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be either a teacher or student having to face the daily realities that Palestinians must face. How can a student focus on learning when they know that at any moment they could brutally lose their lives? How van a teacher teach living with the same knowledge? What use is there in doing assessments, taking exams, putting in grades, doing homework, conducting lessons, etc. when this is "normal"? It sounds almost merciful to just suspend school indefinitely until the situation becomes peaceful enough to justify reopening and sending teachers and students back. It's not fair to either of them to go about their days like this. They deserve better.
