There is a rule. Either no odd intersections, meaning an intersection with only even amount of points intersecting or only two odd intersections.

Drawing a box in the middle following one line is simple without needing the triangle on top. The actual challenge was to draw a box with an X in the middle and triangles on all 4 sides in one single line movement without retracing over a line.

Very easy, all you have to do for the x across you need to go over the sides, top, and the bottom

I used to do this in middle school when I was bored

The x in the middle of the square has two lines so make the square go through the middle from one corner to the other and then go halfway back so to the middle and then go to one of the other corners and then go in a straight line from the new corner to the opposite corner and then once again go halfway back and then finish off going back to the first corner.
