Final Fantasy VI (SNES) Playthrough (No Commentary)

This is the original SNES version of Final Fantasy VI, also known as Final Fantasy III in the US. I chose to do this version as it's the version that I played way back in the day and likely the version you're nostalgic for.
This playthrough has been edited to remove pretty much everything that isn't story related. Grinding, excessive travel, dungeon crawling, vendor time, menu usage and so on. This video is not meant to be a walkthrough or guide. It's aimed at people who want the story in full without having to deal with everything else or watch someone deal with everything else. There are several scenes and individual instances where text will auto-advance.

Some notes:
There are several sequences that involve fighting the same enemy group several times in a row. I've cut these down where it made sense.
During the imperial base sequence, there's a cut after the first battle with the clown. There are two optional items I wanted to grab in the area and it's the only time you can get them but I didn't want to waste time showing this. I could have recorded the scene and then reloaded a save state to grab them but I didn't think of that at the time.
After the year passes, I intentionally let it happen. It is one of the best scenes in the game.
When finding Shadow for the last time, despite the dialogue there he joins the party permanently and everything else you can do there is side stuff with no impact on the story.

I got the SNES version for Xmas 1995. I have played this through SO many times I could write a book. Every Christmas I make an effort to play this game. but as I get older (39) now. I found this video really helped itch that niche missing in my life. It brings back memories of a simpler time when you could plug a game in without worrying about a user agreement or early access flaws. Thx.

2:54:52 To this day this sequence always impresses me. Maybe it’s the lights in the background. It’s amazing how well Super Nintendo graphics still hold up.

Thanks for this broheim, just beat this on Super Famicom and had the same 12 characters so it was in the same order just in Japanese; helped out a bit. Umaro got the final hit after a double ultima from Strago; Edgar had Illumina but was only like level 30; neither Terra nor Celes (or Shadow who's probably my third most used character) participated. The names are badly translated in the credits which is amusing (Cayenne Garamonde for example)

The train scene where Cyan sees he's wife and son.... damn... hardcore.

How many of the scenes did you cut out? On other playthroughs I remember seeing a whole of stuff.

Liked a lot your gameplay. Just a suggestion, It would be cool to see some text commentary from you about some instances of the game, your opinion about the things etc, as you seem to have some proficiency on it.

The aesthetic of this games is very nice and I hear the story is quite good, I just can't over how lifeless the battles are in the old FF games with static pictures for the enemies. It completely ruins the immersion for me. Compared especially with Chrono triggers enemies that roll all over the screen and body check you.
