Low Chloride concentrations are associated with severe vomiting, diarrhea, colitis ulceroza, diabetic acidosis, and Addison's disease. Increased levels are observed in cases of dehydration, congestive heart failure, Cushing’s syndrome, hyperventilation, anemia, nephritis, and renal obstruction. Chloride can be estimated in serum/plasma using the Mercuric Thiocyanate method.
