I think put the shifter lower. Look like it blocked your hand and changed your grip which caused you to do something you normally wouldn't do

I did this once going 90mph on track with my s2000 and all it did was make me spin. Gear box was just fine luckily 😅

That shifter looks too uncomfortable, it’s way too high and restricts your range of motion when shifting. In other words asking for something to happen like this.
