Dan, you're very lucky that your sequence made it intact. I've had 0 luck going into Logic X using plain XML. I sound design in ProTools and my composer uses Logic and the best workflow we've figured out is to use X2Pro for AAF generation. I'm hoping the new version of FCPX has some of Logic's features (Track Stacks for Roles...) and that XML roundtripping will be more stable. Both Resolve and Smoke 2013 work very well with FCPXML, but not Logic yet, at least not from my tests.

One tip that makes it even easier is to switch the "When Done:" pull down to "Publish to Media Browser" in the export window. Then it will appear in the Media Browser in Logic X.

Dan, you should always import the original sound from the movie. Just to check the sync.

Thank you for the tutorial, Dan. Excellent video. Have you by any chance created any tutorials on mixing workflows when using FCPX and LPX with multimicrophone music recordings? My hunch is that I should be mixing the multimicrophone music recording first in LPX before I edit the video and then do a final mix for the video. Am I right in thinking the workflow for this situation should be LPX -> FCPX -> LPX?

Thanks - and very useful. Incredibly complicated workflow though. If only FCPX would somehow allow a more seamless integration with Logic Pro X.

I would absolutely love some more Logic tutorials! I have worked on pure audio projects with Logic Pro 9, and on video projects with FCP7 and mostly FCPX. Only once have I imported a movie and created a score in Logic, and it was quite some work to figure it out. I think it would be really helpful. Especially now, since Logic isn't expensive anymore (yeah, I still bought my version boxed pre-App-Store, very expensive). I'll probably get LPX very soon...
