You should do a clear coat on top. I painted my sisters countertops with regular paint. Two coats paint with two coats of poly. At least 10 years ago, still looks good

We put this on my moms house in her bathroom when we were trying to sell it. The new owner said it still looks great after 10 years!

I was a bathtub and shower and countertop refinisher for 35 years. For damage like that use polyester glazing putty. It looks and smells like Bondo but Bondo is made for cars and it's kind of cheesy and stays flexible forever so you can use it on a door panel or whatever. Glazing putty turns into stone practically. And it mixes and applies the same you put on a little extra than you need and sand it down and maybe give it a skim coat and then sand it down and then it's perfect. Just be careful not to get it on your hands or your fingernails because it will cure quick and you will be wearing that stuff for a couple of months.

Just found your channel.... I really like how honest you seem to be about the process, sharing what you've learned and actually being kind and receptive to people's advice. Made me a fan!

I used this about 10 years ago on my counter top and it's still in great shape !

THANK I just bought a house and the counter tops look exactly like these, prior to the redo. I did not know what I was going to do because I cannot afford to replace them and they look AWFUL! I want to make them white, too, so I will be viewing this video several times to get up my courage. 🙂

I painted my daughters red countertops in a rental. I used black as a base then copper and silver, with a rag to mimic granite. Two coats of semi gloss poly. Still held up till she moved 3 years later. Looked just as good as the finish!

We have this product on our countertop and I find that it can stain easily and over time it will wear down. (2 years you’ll start seeing it chip) I recommend having a back up can of paint for touch ups. This kind of treatment is not my first choice but if your budget is tight then I totally get it.

When you added water putty to the patch I admit I actually said 'noooo!'. The pressed wood substrate soaked up the moisture like a sponge, that's why it took so long to dry. Bondo is a much stronger option, it is definitely longer lasting than water putty, it dries quickly and it will not cause the pressed wood substrate to swell. Those paints for counter tops are great for rental properties. There's also an option that adds a bit of texture, it's also very forgiving . Also very helpful on bathroom vanities. I simply added another layer of paint after each tenant departed.

Back in the 90's and early 2000's Rustoleum sold oil based melamine paint that I used all the time for counters and cupboards, it held up great as long as you didn't cut on it . I was a student and the $10 for a litre can was affordable . I even painted my waterbed with it .

we used the Rust-oleum countertop with the chips of vinyl which gives the stonetop look

Awesome video! I was contemplating if I should buy a new countertop for our rental, only because it’s like 40 yrs old. I am now going to paint it thanks to your great video.😊

I have good success with Wooster Brush foam brushes! They are more dense than craft sponge brushes and can get a very smooth finish! Use fine steel wool to sand right before the final coat. Placing some press on floor tiles to the backsplash would be a great contrast addition and not too expensive!

This is a great option for those wanting a new look for their kitchen but are on a tight budget. It looks really clean and above all--new. I might have gone with black just for a little contrast but the white makes the kitchen very bright.

Just finished my countertops! Doesn’t look too bad. Going to wait 3 days for it to fully cure maybe a week before starting normal use. It looks a heckuva lot better than what it looked like before! I’ll say that! Thanks!

I did a faux granite on the counters, when we remodeled our last camper. The only place it didn’t hold up was on the dinette table, but I hadn’t prepped it properly-it was my first ever attempt.
Now in our present camper where we are only needing to do cosmetic work, I want the stone look on the countertops! 😍

I love your shirt!!! As a law enforcement wife and mom, you got it! 👍🏼

Impressive! I'm inspired to do this in the winter when I can have the house opened. Well explained and all supplies are shown and easily found at store. Subscribed.
