I must've suggested this song 50 times.
Today I'm a happy man.

Their "Poison Ivy" is FIRE!

This song was my childhood.. When I was a kid my father was my hero.. Former Commander in the Navy.. Pilot during Vietnam... I was the last of 3.. but for some reason.. He never liked me... No matter what I did to try and gain his approval... It never came. I taught myself how to play instruments.. Played football in school... Got my black belt in martial arts... drove dirt track cars.. rode bulls in the rodeo.. got a scholarship to MIT... enlisted in the Army.... and so much more.. Nothing seemed to catch his interest.

If there is anything good that came out of it all... It's that because of him.... or in spite of him.. I lived. I'd done more before the age of 25 than most people do their entire lives.

My father passed away in 2022.. We hadn't spoken in 8 years.. I was the only one at the funeral that didn't shed a tear.. It's awkward to have people come to you and shake your hand and tell you how great your dad was... Who am I to shatter their illusions.

You guys are missing the point, the point is he wanted his dad and needed his dad, he wanted his dad to come back home.

One ballad I'm sure you'll like is, "Silent Lucidity, " from Queensryche

His dad left him when he was only 5 years old such a sad but yet great ballad.

This song hit me about 2 years after I left my house of pain.
Yeah, I came from a broken home, but I left at 18 and refused to bring that pain into my home.

My friends and I were at a hotel in Orlando in the late 80’s. We were going to see Genesis on the Invisible Touch tour. As we were walking down the hallway to go to the show someone yelled “where are you losers going”? There were a bunch of rowdy guys in their hotel room.
We told them we were going to see Genesis and they all laughed. I still remember one of the guys said “they’re not a real band….we’re a Real band”!
When we asked who they were they responded “Faster Pussycat”.
We challenged them to a game of quarters and drank them under the table.
I think of that every time I hear that band!

If you want an overlooked hair band thar had a rockin sound, I would recommend "Bullet Boys." Songs; "Smooth up in ya" and "For the love of money." The lead singers' vocals are fire! 👨‍🎤🔥

Tami still sounds amazing to this day, only now he’s sober and can make the whole show. FP are legends.

Amber...you are so genuine with your reaction. The kitchen scene changed it for you. You felt it. You knew....wait, hold up, this is about a conflicted little boy. Trust me, Ive heard this song hundreds of times and STILL, it gets me when I hear the lyrics of this boy waiting for his dad to come home, to make it right, to fill the void left when he left him and his mom. A very common story of Gen X'ers and those who from broken homes including homes with domestic abuse. Not an easy tune to listen to once it captures your attention.

Poison Ivy is a rocker.

JORDAN ROBINSON -- OPEN YOUR EYES!! So glad Amber understood and explained it because Jay had no idea. I'm giving a "thumbs up" but it's only for Amber.

Faster Pussycat came out the same time as Guns N Roses and L.A. Guns. All three bands had members in the former bands Hollywood Rose and the original L.A. Guns. Faster Pussycat held on to the glam image where the other two did not. House of Pain was their biggest song. A rocker from them would be Cathouse. The song is about a bar they played at run by Riki Rachtman who hosted Headbangers Ball in the eighties. The show was the few hours that MTV gave to metal each week. He hosted a NASCAR show and House of Love with Brett Michaels later.

I remember when this song came out I cried so hard. I cried because my relationship with my on /off again dad was this song. Only someone who experienced this could write a song this great. Then came along the REAL man my mom married and I have called him my dad all my life. I unfortunately had to make a life and death decision on my sperm donor being his oldest child after not seeing him for over 12yrs.

My true heartbreak came when my dad died several yrs later.

A truly great song I had forgotten thank you for playing this.

Plus Faster Pussy was one of my favorite bands.
