Initially, the 5x zoom lens was an option in 'Aperture Mode' but the recent update removed it sadly. It worked well though.

Good review David. You got it right about using the telephoto lens to isolate a subject. Using a wide angle small sensor and software to achieve the same effect is good, but needs improvement.
Oh yes, outsite of Huawei phones which I don't own, I have a few 'Leica' lens Lumix compacts from the TZ30, TZ70, TZ90 and TZ100, which I carry at least one of them all the time. The P30 Pro is close, and I see later generations getting even better.

Bought this Phone 5 days ago and since then i am totally amazed with it. First of all the camera, amazingly all rounded package. Cant tell its the Best in all areas, but unbeatable at 3: night shots, portrait and zoom. Next is battery and charging. Last day i was late for work and had like 20 minutes to charge my Phone. For 22 minutes i got 60%. And this is not everything. The battery is lasting very long. With normal usage you can get 2 full days without a problem. Coming from s9+ the camera and the battery are way way better. The Phone is super fast and smooth, and the emui is not that bad i mean it's good and not that different from any other Android Phone. The display is very good too. The only issue for me is the speaker which isnt bad too but Just Cant match the Samsung or iPhone stereo speakers. The fingerprint is very fast and reliable and the face recognition which is not as secure as the Apple or mate20 pro is still very good and fast even in dark conditions. If someone is wondering about buying this Phone-go for it, you wont regret. And you also have ir blaster which is kinda usefull and fun. Cheers!
