Trump opened up tons of oil leases, and drilling on shore is cheaper than deep water. Massive supply increase dropped prices, and the off shore guys were caught out. RIG has a big debt problem, but they are the leader for sure, and as long as the Democrats are in office, ironically, it's good for oil.

If you haven't read The Prize by Daniel Yergan, it's a must read for understanding the oil markets, and a good primer on commodities in general.

I lost a fortune on valaris. Held for years only to arrive at bankruptcy. I still own a lot of transocean but it’s so frustrating . They announce all these great new contracts but quarter after quarter lose more and more money. I guess they need a million dollar a day day rates just to not lose money. Sucks
