Márkos Vamvakáris (Greek: Μάρκος Βαμβακάρης) 1905-1972, was a Greek musician. He was one of the main representatives of the Greek Rebetiko music. Vamvakáris was a master of the bouzouki and was also famous as a composer. There have been more than 30 recordings of his music, the earliest in the 1930s. A bust of Vamakáris peers out over the sea from the small square named after him in Ano Syros.
