Witcher 1 accually did that the best. Potions were also really balanced and usefull. In Witcher 2 you didn't know when to use them.

i hope for witcher 4 they combine 2 and 3. where you have quick potions like swallow, white raffards, thunderbolt, etc that can be used at any time, but also you have things like decoctions that you can only take before a battle, not during.

Witcher 1 has the best potion system. They last long, have powerful effects and you have to be considerate when picking potions before a fight.

In TW3 youre drinking them like energy drinks and TW2 probably has the worst system where tky have to meditate.

The drinking animation was added in the fan modification "School of Roach". But unfortunately the modification was abandoned.
