Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo. The funkkkk. This instant classic screams out early 2000's and has timeless lines. This car in particular has an upgraded Alpine headunit, Cobra alarm, Nitto N555R tires, glass roof, short shift kit, upgraded exhaust and Quaife LSD.
Yea, its fun haha

Cood vid but with errors. All 2002+ got the round tailights. Looks like the head unit face plate is missing but they all got alpine sound systems. AP brakes came on all 2000+ and the 1999 Sport 350 (S350), there's no 350r/r350. It does have a rev limiter. Depending on what ECU it has, it'll be around 7.2k rpm. They all have short throw shifters. This particular car though has upgraded transmission internals in addition to the quaife limited slip. Good thing too because the stock renault trans wont live long the way you were driving it. Also, there's no mistaking it for an exotic, it IS an exotic. I own a Final Edition Esprit and a gated Murcie, the esprit is still my favorite.

However, the way you drove it in the video is definitely making a lot of us cringe! Have a little respect for the classics! They don't deserve that sort of treatment!

Beautiful car and handles beautifully OR that line in Pretty Woman where Julia Robers says " it corners like its on rails."

It's a pity that the Lotus Esprit II didn't take off.


I spoke to an actual owner who also owned a gorgeous grey 512TR. I told him I was envious of both cars.

We went for a ride and I couldn't believe how good this car drove . . . AND yes if definitely cornered like it was on rails. Unbelievably. . . We were trolled and came up against an Ausdie muscle car. It was a V6 Peter Brock Commodore that had been . . . "treated ' meaning additional Carburetors amongst other things.


LONG Story Short - we blew away the V6 Commodore.
The look on the guys face when the twin-turbo's on the Esprit II kicked in . . . priceless . . . He was sweating, his eyes wide as his engine was roaring
. . his foot to the floor.
We were about 30 feet behind . . . the guy shifted into 4th . . . he said wait . . . AND we flew past the Commodore.
That night as I replayed the incident in my head I recalled the unbelievable turbos . . .
The exhileraration and that acceleration. . . Wow!

I love Ferrari's but I would take the Lotus Esprit II over the F355 and 360 Stradale any day.

Nope. The engine was designed and manufactured in house by Lotus but there is no connection to any of the engines they used in F1.

The original styling of the Esprit was by Giugiaro of Italy. This late V8 is restyled by Peter Stevens and I would describe it as a major restyle.

The Esprit is an exotic. The Esprit was produced in very small numbers compared with most Lamborghini or Ferrari models. It was produced by one of the most successful names ever in Formula One. The body and engine were designed in house by Lotus. In my opinion it is both an exotic and a classic of British sports car engineering.
