How to Obtain a US Merchant Mariner's Credential

This is a video to assist any of you out there who are beginning your life in the maritime industry or those of you who already are there and seeking to renew your MMC. I just recently got a new Merchant Mariner's Credential so I wanted to go over it all and hopefully help some of you guys. It is very easy to do so no worry....

Yes if you think about it, there would be a lot of Hoops that you would have to jump through to get your Merchant Marine credentials. It must pay very well but then again I would think that it would have to depend upon the skill-set that you use to complete your assigned job on board ship. When you're applying for a job or position at a shipping company is there a written test and an interview that you have to go through? I was wondering that when you were going through all the forms that you have to fill out. Great video! Glad you're back!

Right now I am sort of in the wait to take the exam, have everything else done except the test. Waiting on REC to open. I’ve been out 20 years.

The Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) is a credential issued by the United States Coast Guard in accordance with guidelines of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) to United States seafarers in order to show evidence of a mariner's qualifications.

It is the standard documentation required for all crew members of U.S. ships for all vessels required to operate with a licensed Master or Operator, regardless of size. The MMC replaced the Merchant Mariner's Document, merchant mariner license, Certificate of Registry, and STCW Certificate.

Hi How you doing sir, just wondering I’m not yet a full US citezen but I already applied and sent my N-400. I would like to know if you can still get the MMC even though ur not US citezen yet..
