Is there a way to avoid having to create dummy variables for input to regression analysis? I would have hoped that if you have a categorical variable with two levels (eg. animal: dog; cat), you could keep this as one variable but get the regression to interpret the different levels as 0 or 1 automatically? Mutating is easy enough but it gets annoying when variables have lots of levels and you have lots of variables that are categorical. The dummy data set gets huge...

I have a data in which there is column for players country of origin e.g Canada, US etc. I am asked to create dummy for Canada and US. How can I do it?
