A Catholic Mystic Calls Ukraine an Apocalyptic Country and is the focus of this video.

Is Ukraine an apocalyptic country that determines the future of the world?

So the late, famous mystic, Josyp Terelya, called his homeland Ukraine (suppressed for decades under Russian communists).

He once said; "this is an apocalyptic nation."

We are used to hearing about Israel in such terms.

But Ukraine?

True, the war could spread to Europe as a result of the current Russian-Ukrainian struggle, and even evolve into a global nuclear conflict, which certainly fits in as "apocalyptic" (as a dramatic historical-spiritual event).

But there is more; and it creates a mystery.

History seems to be dragging Ukraine onto the world stage many times.

The question - recently posed in a column by Yaroslav Hrytsak , a professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University: Why was Ukraine, a medium-sized country of 40 million people on the eastern edge of Europe, at the epicenter of the Great War not once, not twice, but three times?

"Ukraine is once again at the center of a potentially global conflict, " he said.

"World War I, as historian Dominic Lieven put it , 'turned the fate of Ukraine. '

World War II, according to legendary journalist Edgar Snow, was ‘primarily the Ukrainian war’.

Now the danger of World War III depends on what could happen in Ukraine. "

Part of the answer is geographical.

Ukraine is located between Russia and Germany and has long been seen "as a place of struggle for dominance over the continent. "

“In 1904, an English geographer named Halford John Mackinder made a bold prediction.

In an article entitled ‘Geographical Headquarters of History’, he suggested that whoever controls Eastern Europe will control the world.

On both sides of this vast region were Russia and Germany, ready to fight.

And in between was Ukraine, with its rich resources of grain, coal and oil. "

There is also a mystical component - unnoticed, of course, in essays in secular (or even Catholic) media.

Ukraine has deep Catholic-Marian roots - it is a lightning rod for the forces of evil.

"Mariupol" - the most devastated Ukrainian city so far - means "Mary's City".

In addition, many churches and monasteries are in tragic ruins.

Lenin and Stalin saw Ukraine as a crossroads with the rest of the world - and thus of turning the Bolshevik revolution into a world revolution.

Putin also considers it a "battlefield for civilization rivalry between Russia and the West. "

The struggle for Ukraine, as history tells us, concerns much more than Ukraine or Europe.

It is a struggle for the shape of the future world.
