When I was young and stupid I purposefully skipped over this song because it was so long. I finally listened to it in its entirety on my way to pick up my brother from college and have never looked back. That's almost thirty years ago now, and this song has yet to get old.

Yes it is IMHO the best thing the Allmans ever pulled off.... I don't understand why Butch Trucks said in the book Skydog he believed that this was one of their worst mountain jams and it was only put it on EAP because they wanted to showcase Duane and it was of the excellent audio quality.... maybe I love it because it's one of the first things I ever heard by the Allmans way back when I was 12... I mean hell, I was loving the Stones and Mick Taylor and all of the sudden I hear DA and it was like everything just opened up, like a beautiful blue sky filled with warm sunshine after a period of inclement weather. Truly a magical version to me and out of all the 70/71 MJ's I've heard and listened to for years, I still love it the best and it still makes mw want to weep in parts..

Better than anything Clapton or Hendex ever did. And I don't even put them near the best. Stevie Ray could do anything Hendrix could play. Clapton he! Great stuff Duane.
