First call: ask what the siblings think. In our family, we would sell the family home to the sister for a reduced price, or even carry the financing because SHE TOOK CARE OF OUR PARENTS! First thing to do is figure out their family dynamics. We recently did this with our mom’s inheritance. We told her before her death that we (three of us) don’t want any of the money and to pass it to the one (of the four of us) who does.

Ok, the guy with the wife who is trying to write a book. My first thought is who gives a flying F what family and friends think about her not going outside of the house and working. Literally it's none of their business, if the situation is working for them and the both of them husband and wife are ok with it that's all that matters. It sounded like they were out if debt and he's more concerned about her mental health. Which is so sweet.❤

yes, get rid of the car... My ex, years ago, told me how by him paying me child support got his new truck repo'd ... had to contact child support services... Love the responsibility of Tom trying to figure things out

The Widow, she could get a roommate to offset that mortgage, she could also take some smaller lump sums out of the 401k and do a mortgage reclass, most companies allow you to do this once a year for about 10k for a small fee. This would lower her monthly output and give her a bit more cushion without wiping out her retirement savings.

1:25:00 I’m excited for her if she does their plan. She could be debt free by the time she is 30, cash flow her child’s college tuition while saving for a down payment on a house and funding her retirement. And that’s doing it all herself, hopefully she meets someone just as successful as her to help her become a baby step millionaire by age of 40
