Xiaomi Mi Home Gateway - 3. Sub Devices Installation

In this quick tutorial, we're going to learn how to add sub devices to Xiaomi's Mi Home Gateway. Subdevices connect over Zigbee and are paired directly with the gateway.

There's a number of sub devices we can add at the moment, this ranges from input devices like the wireless switch, smoke detector, motion sensor, door sensor, temperature sensor, water leak sensor, and the Aqara sensors for example.

Output devices are wall sockets, smart power sockets, curtain controller. The "input" sub devices can also be set up to control most of Xaomi's smart WiFi products like a whole number of lights, vacuum cleaner, and air conditioner, just to name a few.

There is too much about this Gateway to cover in a single video, so I'm making a whole playlist with installation and setup videos for this gateway.

As some of you have noticed by now, I am trying to cover the whole range of products from the Mi Home Ecosystem. I'm going as hard as I can and I am trying to post as many videos as I possibly can. I have a few questions.
1. Any reason to connect the AC cord directly to the gateway other than the advantages of power consumption view?
2. Is this still the latest version of the AC controller gateway from Xiaomi family?

I've been watching your channel since may and I really love it. You did convince me to buy Xiaomi products but I have few questions if you could answer.
1. Can I use other Zigbee brands with the gateway and app?
2. Can I use other Zigbee gateway with Xiaomi stuff?
3. Can I use Google Home and/or Alexa for voice commands? I know there is the Xiaomi AI but I'm not really interested in it since I have Google ChromeCast amd I want just to have it simple.
4. Can I use the app or Xiaomi products and/or gateway with Tasker to help me more automate other things that I already have with Xiaomi? Such as Milight, Broadlink 360 IR
5. Can I use shortcuts/Widgets? In Android phones you can add a widget in your home screen to fast access information or task something instead of opening the app and do it. For example, turn on the lights from the home screen instead of opening the app, chose the room, chose, lights, and turn it on.

I hope you answer my questions because I have all the things I need in Alibaba Cart but want to know what I could and can't do with Xiaomi products. Thanks

Is it possible to connect the Xiaomi gateway to a smart assistant like Google Home or Amazon Alexa? So you can use your voice to for example turn the door/window sensors on.

Is there any specified maximum installation radius between the Gateway and the sub-devices? I'm not sure if I need two of the Gateways or just only one.

Can i user Aquara v3 gateway and the v2 Gateway together? Oder is it better to habe 2x v2 oder 2xv3? Whats the pro and the cons?

Have planned to buy Xiaomi gateway for a long time but only downside is that Aqara wall switches are only UK/(Chinese?) connection box compared to EU round connection box. If there would be any EU smartswitches that are compatible with Xiaomi Smart home i would buy it straight away! :)

Can I control mi products through mi home app when I am away? For example, weather suddenly turns very hot, so would like to turn on air condition before I back home.

Can you pair the Xiaomi Universal Intelligent IR Remote Controller with the Gateway? I would like to set rules on my A/C to save electricity such as: if door open -> switch off Ac or if no movement in the room -> for 30 minutes -> between 8am and 8pm -> switch off AC

What is this "Mi Home Test room" page? I have no such thing in my Mi Home app. In fact it looks nothing like this.
