Interesting stuff 👍🏻. After quite a few years in business (and very happily retired now) I came to the conclusion that the whole interview process is almost pointless with one exception- you can weed out nutcases, odd balls and BS merchants but there is almost no way of choosing the right person thereafter. It’s all theatre and being good at interviews is rather like being a good actor holding the attention of the audience. Unfortunately after the performance is over and the day to day work starts the acting skills are no longer useful. Eventually I reached the conclusion that I needed to tick only two boxes: did I actually ‘like’ the person and their aura and did they seem like a tryer who’d roll their sleeves up and give stuff a go as opposed to someone more likely to look for excuses and bumble along. Likability and enthusiasm count for a lot in my opinion.

Can confirm I followed this approach, and often was complimented on my answer!

Rewatching these for the 2nd time. Been applying for a few jobs I've been interested in. I remembered half of these videos off the top of my head and feel I made better applications because of it. But I will be taking notes for the next rounds, in case this time doesn't work out. The advice sounds invaluable.

“Tone is everything” …. This is the value you bring Bill (I was feeling nervous hearing that as it is risky if you don’t have the presence of mind to be mindful about the tone of the first words out of your mouth) - great point-out 🎤

Some of your best recommendations: passion for what you do, stay on topic, brevity, stop talking.
There are a few more but I can say from a recent positive experience that these videos helped.
I went into the process feeling better prepared.

I was asked to summarize my resume in my own words from oldest to most previous job. This was great info and definitely helped me stay on track. Practice, practice, practice!

Hi! I wanted to THANK YOU for these videos! I binge watched each of the videos detailing how to answer each of the common questions along with your insights to prepare for my telephone interview. I made it through the second interview 2 weeks ago and received a job offer last night! This is a government position that is very competitive. Only 2 candidates out of 45 were selected. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🎉

Most of your interviewing video's are great, and I've used many of your recommendations. I have to say that I found this one as one of my favorites. Now I use it for every interview I do, internal or external. It's a great opportunity to tell your story through your work history and highlight your value. Thanks!

Very helpful! This is the 2nd time I've referenced your video. I implemented your advice on my last interview, and I now have an offer pending from a top-tier company. Today I have another interview and I can already see how it's going to again help me. THANK YOU!! 😀😀

Thank you Bill for sharing your great insight and tips for job interviews. Your videos helped me immensely to be well prepared for an behavioral interview the other day. They really helped me nail it! The hiring manager called me back only a few hours after my interview to advise me I was the preferred candidate!

I am glad I found your channel. I recently had an interview for a research analyst position at a California community college. I wanted to ask, when and how should I thank a screening committee for giving me the opportunity to interview for a position. Also, towards the end of the interview, how should I answer, "What concerns or questions do you have?" I always ask, "What was it about my resume that resonated with the needs of your organization? Maybe I can elaborate on that if I haven't already done so."
