Exposing BIG SECRETS Companies Don't Want You To Know - REACTION

Hey ya'll! Today on my channel I'm exposing some big secrets companies don't want you to know. Ever wonder what Starbucks, McDonalds, and Sephora have in common? They are all huge companies with plenty of former employees who have come forward to expose their secrets. Enjoy :)

Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I crack a joke or two. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

FYI about the McD's chicken being injected with a salt water solution: This is called a brine, and it is used at any place that does chicken. We even do it at home. It's usually kosher salt, sugar and different herbs and spices. It actually infuses itself into the chicken and ensures that every bite is tasty and juicy. Nothing weird or backhanded about that.

I went into a Starbucks every day looking for their fruit and cheese box, they’d always run out by the time I got there for lunch. I was really nice and went for a sandwich instead, tipped well, and built a rapport with my barista. It only took 3 days of that before they started hoarding one in the back with a sticky note with my name on it so I’d have one when I came in 🥲 I was so sad when I graduated and had to say goodbye to them

Many many moons ago I applied to work at Sephora, I was taking classes to learn makeup and really wanted to work there. I walked in, resume and application in hand and spoke with an employee who told me they were hiring. The manager happened to walk over, took my application and looked me up and down with a scowl and said no they were not hiring. I can still see that scowl. So messed up. I dodged a bullet though so thanks.

The part about being good to staff and they're good to you back... 1) just be nice regardless of whether they're serving you or not, but 2) that applies in any retail situation. I was in Urban Outfitters yesterday and the guy serving me was so friendly, I complimented the cherry red Docs he was rocking (one day I'll be cool enough for those), and then my jeans scanned as £30, but the label said £65. Worried my guy might get pulled up on it, I pointed it out to him. He said, "I don't have time to find the right barcode!" Winked at me and sold them for £30. Wherever you are, kind sir, I salute you! Made my whole day.

as someone who worked at wendy's... the chili thing isn't exactly true. One, we don't freeze our meat. Ever. we DO use overcooked or unsold meat that's considered "old" but it's HOURS old, not days. It sits in a warming drawer, and then is used in the chili because it holds up better being slow cooked into chili than fresh meat would. There's nothing wrong with the meat, and it isn't left out to sit and grow bacteria. All the other chili ingredients come fresh, or in cans and are mixed daily. Also as a side note, unlike mcdonald's disastrous ice cream machine maintenance, wendy's frosty machines are "broken down" and cleaned with santizier every single night - and new mix is added once or twice a day. it is NEVER old or unclean. When I worked there, the unsold frosty mix was put into the largest cups we had available, and sent home with the workers - because otherwise it'd be wasted.

The thing that makes me furious is that I'm old enough to remember when cable TV first came out--you could buy cable so you didn't have to watch commercials. Then as the years wore on, they started adding commercials. Now you're getting robbed to watch the commercials you didn't want to watch in the first place.

I’m a former Sephora employee and that’s ALL true. I used to work at MAC before and they were strict on sanitation. I was APPALLED at how disgusting Sephora was. ZERO sanitation is taught or enforced. So gross.

The McDonald's one kind of frustrated me as a former McDonald's worker. The McDonald's I worked at was EXTREMELY strict about their hygiene policies. I'm talking hairnets, washing hands after everything you did, gloves for the cooks that they changed every hour, and not being allowed behind the counter without a mask on. It could just be a difference in management, but my McDonald's was very strict. Our ice cream machine also had an automatic cleaning function where you had to turn it off for like an hour to clean itself, so that's why we couldn't make ice cream a lot of the time. But he's talking like every McDonald's is like the one he worked at, which obviously isn't true. The one I worked at was CLEAN.

Years ago I went thru the BS with Best Buy over a window air conditioner that came with a manufacturer's warranty. They tried to sell me the extended warranty and I declined. When the a/c broke 3 months later, they tried to tell me there was nothing they can do because I didn't purchase the extended warranty. Tip: Look on the manufacturer's warranty papers and find who manufactured the item, then get in touch with them. They will get back to Best Buy and force them to honor it.

As a body piercer that follows APP guidelines, we always advise against Claire’s and Piercing Pagoda. You need a beveled needle to correctly pierce ears and other body parts.. the guns just cause blunt force trauma. This is why many people end up with irritation, infection, and heavier scarring when they go to places in the mall like Claire’s and piercing pagoda.
There is a whole science behind “needle drift” that we are taught as apprentices. Meaning that when you pierce ears, you have to get the angle down to a T, and then shift the angle again to compensate for the force being places against the tissue to ensure it comes out straight.
We are taught to check for veins to make sure your piercing heals correctly.
We are taught to check your ears anatomy to make sure you can get a piercing. Not everyone can safely get a lobe piercing, and not everyone can get a helix/cartilage piercing.. this goes for every piercing.
The guns are made from plastic, meaning they are porous. It is impossible to clean them, meaning that you are leaving your open wound exposed to blood born pathogens from everyone else who was pierced before you.
The only way to correctly sanitize something is with heat, steam, and pressure from an autoclave. The piercing guns would melt inside. Alcohol will never sanitize the way you need to be safe.
The metals used at Claire’s are horrendous for healing. You need something surgical/implant grade.
They also tell you to turn and twist your jewelry. All this does is reopen your wound over and over, making irritation easier and healing times longer.
They tell you to clean earrings with a cotton ball.. wrong again because the fibers can get stuck and trap bacteria.
Healing is harder with hoops as well. Again, more rotation = longer healing times.
You also cannot change lobe piercings for 2-4 months. Helix/cartilage piercings take 6-12 months to heal. You should not change or twist the jewelry before then. Claires and piercing pagoda tell you to keep in jewelry for only two weeks.
It’s like they want you to get infected.

Lastly, CONSENT IS HUGE!!! Credible body piercers would never pierce a baby. That baby cannot consent to having its body modified. I would only pierce children 8 and above, and only if they could tell me with their own mouth that this is what they wanted.

Do your research and go to a piercing shop. If your piercer doesn’t follow APP guidelines, run. Always make sure piercing equipment and tools have been autoclaved, and all needles are 1 use only. Check to make sure they throw away your needle in a biohazard bin after piercing too. You can always ask to watch them set up and ask whether their items have been autoclaved. If they are legit, they will be happy to show you and prove they are doing their best to keep the space sanitized and safe for you!

I work in the meat department at a local grocery store and I can confidently say that we NEVER add anything to our cuts. Whether it's beef, pork, or anything we process (cut, grind, etc.) we DO NOT add any chemicals to our meats. ANY additive would be (in USA) required to be disclosed in an ingredients sticker. It is a $10, 000 minimum fine for not including this information on packaging.

I’ve always known about the chilli and never found it gross or weird.
I’m also the type of person who saved veggie scraps and bones for broth, so to me throwing the meat away just seems wasteful.
On that note, I’d like to point out how appalled people are about restaurants being wasteful and throwing food away, but when they come up with a way to reduce waste, people are also appalled. Lol

For McDonalds, I think it all depends on management and employees. When in Hawaii, we visited McDonald's for breakfast. That place was so clean and nice it was like a different store. Coming home to my local store was such a letdown. The quality of service and food and the cleanliness was night and day. Sometimes I think there is a difference in a franchise and a store that is actually owned.

The thing about Wendy’s chili: health inspectors would know this and if it is beyond the 7 day mark required, it will be tossed. Using yesterdays unused hamburger for chili is a good idea. Beans being frozen is also a good thing. First world privilege is not wanting perfectly good and safe food because of the feels.

I worked at Bath and Body Works for a Christmas season & the man who said they “discontinue” the fragrance & repackage a “new” scent as the same fragrance is 100% correct!! They know what scents people like & will get more money selling it as a “new scent”, but it’s one they’ve sold for years.

Worked at a makeup counter for 6ish years. Keeping your testers and brushes clean is a MUST!
Also, it surprised me how many customers would just walk up, grab a lipstick and put it on without thinking twice. 🤢
I had a co-worker warn some high schoolers once that that’s a great way to get herpes. They left. 😂

For Wendy's, they do use old meat, actually unused meat patties. But, remember these are fresh patties. So, they are using them in the chili to avoid product waste. It's not as disgusting as people make it out to be. It's like repurposing your leftovers.

Former Five Guys employee here...Our milkshake machines were "supposed to be" cleaned once a week--no one liked doing it. The only one's that really changed it were: the General Manager, the assistant General Manager, and the shift lead employee at the end of the night (if everyone was caught up with their closing duties). When visits by the higher ups were announced, cleaning became aggressive and people still slacked--especially if there was only one employee doing it because everyone took advantage of them. During Covid--same sh!t different day. On top of that, you'd get in trouble with your manager when asked why you stayed so long (on the clock or not)--even after explaining why. At one point, i told them "check the cameras, you'll see everything i did that the rest of the employees didn't do because they were in a rush to go home".

Just a tip on brand names. I once took an intro course on marketing. Right there in their very first course, they openly spilled the beans on what branding is. Is is a highly calculated algorithm to rip customers off. I am genuinely not kidding.
In the text book for that class, they laid out how tonnes of research has proven how companies can build loyalty by selling a high quality product along with certain marketing campaigns. Then there are algorithms for figuring out how loyal customers become to their brand. Once the loyalty reaches a certain point, they instantly reverse course and start gutting the quality of their products because they have mathematical formulas that show how far loyal customers will allow the quality to drop by until they turn on the brand.
They even have preplanned methods of fixing a brand that goes too far and gets damaged to repair the loyalty. They come out with another specific type of campaign along with again higher quality products to draw past loyal customers back. From that point it becomes very much wash, rince, repeat.
Why do you think cable companies and phone companies treat loyal customers like crap and give all the deals to new ones. No, it's not just something you think is happening, it literally what they teach people to do in college.
Treat loyal customers like crap because they will out up with it. If they don't put up with it and leave, offer them a deal to come back. It seems dumb, but it is highly intentional. People make a living off of helping companies for this to customers.

OMG....I worked for Hollister in high school & some of college. She's absolutely right! First of all...I was hired cause of my name (Meghan Whalen). They did a group interview. The assistant manager (who was black & yes this is important later) hosted the interview. She wrote a list of names of all the people she liked. The store manager (who wasn't even there for the interview) took the list & called the people with "certain names" on the list. I was one of those names. She left a voicemail for me to come in because I had gotten the job. I was excited for my first day as a Hollister model. I got there & both the store manager & assistant manager was there. The store manager asked what was I doing there, so I told her my name. She was like, _YOU'RE_ Meghan!" The assistant manager was like, "Yes! Who did you think she was?" Then she looked at me, smiled & winked. I knew right then, my name got me that job!🤷🏾‍♀️ During the 1st year & a half that I was there, I was a size 5/6 with long hair & wore my contacts instead of glasses. My husband & I got pregnant almost a year after we graduated from high school (don't judge me)! & due to complications, I had to resign while I was pregnant. After I had my son, I was ready to go back to work. But at this point, I was in a size 11/12 & was wearing my glasses. They pulled me in the office my 2nd day back & said, "GOOD NEWS! WE WANT TO GIVE YOU A PROMOTION AS THE IMPACT MANAGER. YOU WILL NOW BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STOCK ROOM. YOU WON'T BE ON THE FLOOR ANYMORE!" I wasn't stupid! I knew why they did it, but I took the money & the worked there up until the "Meghan has gotten fat" jokes were a bit too much! As if I didn't just give birth to a whole human months ago! Even though I went down to was still "too fat" to be on the floor! Hollister will most definitely mess with your confidence, if you let them. Lucky for me, my man & I loved the extra weight I had put on, so they couldn't completely break me. Once I left, I went to a size 9/10 & loved every single pound!😊😝
