Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet

Climate change is warming the Arctic twice as fast as the rest of the planet, putting increasing pressure on Greenland's ice sheet, a group of scientists warned on Thursday.
The melting of the ice sheet and glacier mass loss resulting from climate change's effects has become one of the largest contributors to rising sea levels since 2000, researchers have said.

Al Jazeera's Nick Clark travelled to a glacier to see first-hand the effects of climate change and speak to scientists studying the changes.

The Arctic is warming 4.5 x faster than the rest of the planet, not x 2. I don't know why the media always considers sea level rise to be the primary issue of Arctic warming. That's the last issue to affect humanity. Arctic warming is an existential threat to the biosphere because it decreases the planets temperature gradient, which scrambles the wind patterns, which create weather extremes that kill ecosystems.

Heard it all before it's melting then it's freezing then climate change was used instead of global warming / cooling . The oceans have not risen as predicted and that's from 1900 until 1950 when the mini ice age was predicted then climate change and they predicted two meters rise by 2000 at the 1987 UN climate summit plus 2014 mass starvation and oceans rising again with world temp rise, 2017 same .
Well the solar minimum has started and it's equated to cooling of the temp by raising ozone levels which cause dense high cloud cover . That's been recorded since the 1700's not just 1970's where the so called temperature hockey stick is used and miss used .

As in some parts the ocean has a direct contact with ice, so if the ocean warms up the ice melts faster and the facing of consequences will not wait for too long.
