I wish Generative Fill had an option to select the subject and create shadows on a transparent layer, separate from the background. Currently, Photoshop adds the shadow and background together, which means artists have to mask out the image. Having the shadow on its own transparent layer would make the workflow much smoother and more efficient.

I think it is really really hard for Photoshop to generate what you expect, and this was a good example for that. That scooter did not look much like a Vespa - not even like a Lambretta. I think it is better to genegate the item you need outside of Photpshom, and then composite. But as always, You made a good video that was worth watching.

Colin, thank you for this and you other tutorials. I have a question for you. Currently I am working in Photoshop 2024 and the most recent Photoshop Beta. Historically, PS artists would be familiar with using the Lasso tool to make a selection in PS, then feathering that selection using Select and Mask. Then cutting out the selection, etc. This works as it should.

However, in the 2024 Beta version of PS when this process it carried out the Select and Mask generates a Layer Mask. Is there a way of disabling the automated Layer Mask?
