Who else is here because of MR Ballen?

Unfortunately this is what happens when a seasoned captain thinks they've seen and been through it all, they think they are invincible and get people hurt or in this case, killed. What's worse is he deliberately and stubbornly ignored a friends text about the hurricane before they even set sail. Could've been prevented. Smh. RIP to all the other crew members.

The attorney keeps saying “they”. “They made the decision, they should’ve realized.” It wasn’t “they”, it was “he”, Captain Davidson.

Sadly the crew was doomed. No chance of launching an open lifeboat in a hurricane. Disgraceful that they didn't have an enclosed lifeboat.

Mr. Ballen made me see this and its terrifying. May god have mercy to these people in heaven.

“ it’s to the captains WTF...The captain wasn’t on the bridge from 11PM to around 4AM, and the few calls to his cabin he denied a suggested course change. And the biggest mistake was he didn’t read the weather update that came in at 11Pm, until 4:30AM, 5 hours later and it also shows the weather 5 hours previous, so when he was reading the weather report at 4:30AM the wether in the report was over 10 hours old!! The captain got himself and his entire crew killed!!
Nothing is to the captain’s credit.

the captain deserves no credit for anything good here. if he wasn't so stubborn and diverted course like his other officers wanted him to - they'd be alive today.

Garbage, absolutely shocking ship management. The Captain is the reason all these people lost their lives. He was out of touch with weather forecasts, had ignored requests from his crew to alter course, spent nowhere near enough time on the bridge in the conditions, the last AB on the bridge froze in terror and the old man was heard trying to get him to the bridge wing doors. I would imagine the old man realised he had doomed everyone and knowing the VDR would be the ongoing narrative and survival was out of the question, he stayed on the bridge to be the last heard on the VDR, leaving that as his legacy. I imagine the ships crew would write him quite a different epitaph.

RIP SH3 ANTHONY THOMAS. 2ND FROM THE RIGHT ON BOTTOM ROW AT 1:27 in. I served with him on USS Enterprise CVN-65 in the 80s. A great man!

If the second mate was in charge they never would have gotten near that hurricane. Her emails from hours before the sinking show that she thought that sailing towards a hurricane was foolish. She even voiced her concern to at least one other crew mate, stating that the captain was continuing forward just to save face. Too bad she wasn't so vocal with captain "Ahab" himself.

This was just some macho man BS what a irresponsible fool your crew and any passengers are priority number one not your ego not your pride not your job, greed or the task at hands I hope all these people who lost someone that day go after the captain for all he had and the places employing him. These are the worst kind of tragedy because it’s just so preventable and senseless

That ship had massive holes in the deck and several previous sailers said they wouldn’t work that boat again for any amount of money. The 1st mate and Chief tried to get the Cap to abandon the boat.

I’ve swam in big swells of water. I didn’t last a minute before I had to get out because I had no more energy. I can’t even begin to fathom what it’s like to be in swells from a hurricane while already scared to death from everything that had just happened. That crew stood no chance and they were doomed from the start because of that stupid captain.

Nothing is to Captain Davidson’s credit in this case, but that’s what the attorney said.

🤔 I don't think getting off would have helped, I mean if it took down a whole ship....I don't think life jackets and boats would have stood a chance ijs....God bless the family's 🙏
