Immersive projection audiovisual installation by artist Yuxi Cao

ORIENS (2017) was an audiovisual installation created by artist James Yuxi Cao and exhibited at the Today Art Museum that placed the audience into an atom/black hole that was beyond human perception. Using a series of shifting shapes that moved to a soundscape created by Hu Wengu and Mars Soir this immersive projection experience spanned a space of 30m x 14m x 14m.

The title of the work translates to 'Oriental Pearl' which Yuxi used as a reference to all spheres and their forms. 'There are many carriers of life and whether enormous or tiny, they manifest as a circle, the earth, the moon, or a meteorite, they are all in the shape that is close to a sphere. Terms like circle, sphere and globe connect to infinity and symbolize the core of what constitutes our existence.' - Yuxi Cao
