I was working as a detail guy at a dealership one time, finished up this big hulking Buick Regal, drove it up front, parked it and left the keys with the salesman.

Ten minutes later I'm called up front, the salesman is pissed off, the manager is pissed off, because the customer is pissed off. Apparently, I "missed a spot" by the trunk. I knew it couldn't have been much, if anything. Maybe some drainage from the trunk seal when I drove it up. It happens.

So, they drove it all the way back around the dealership to the wash bay, through about 15 mud puddles, completely ruining the detail! Mud and pebbles all over the fenders and wheel wells. Dirt caked into the rims. Tire shine ruined.

I took my rag, walked up front, handed it to the salesman and said "you guys are fuckin retards, you know that? All you had to do was grab a cloth, wipe off the tiny spot I missed and that would have been that. Instead, you wrecked it!"

Then I quit. Best walk off of a job ever.

I always let the customer know that there are many more steps to go. They usually just go away
