What are science policy and technology policy? In this session, recorded during the 2023 HBCU & MSI Science Policy College Tour, Dr. Deborah D. Stine, founder of the Science and Technology Policy Academy, introduced attendees to science and technology policy and spoke about policy analysis aspects that focus on the difference between equity and equality. Dr. Stine also covered Minority Serving Institution (MSI) history along with nationwide issues where science and technology policy can be impactful.
The National Science Policy Network's HBCU & MSI Science Policy College Tour introduces the field of science policy to early-career STEM students, scientists, and researchers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges, and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). The goal of the Tour is to inspire, empower, and provide the next generation of science policy leaders with the tools to succeed and thrive in science policy, advocacy, and public discourse revolving around issues where science can be utilized to positively impact underserved populations and reduce racial disparities.

We're a vibrant and growing community of early-career scholars dedicated to advocating for scientific-based policy-making and providing the tools and resources for other early-career scholars interested in the process.
