I am pretty active in the NI's maschine community, there will be a generational update (3.0) coming later this year, the source is one of the employees of NI. That said, I agree the workflow is not bad at all, I totally agree with everything you said! we need those improvements!! Mp3 import and export damn it!!! mp3!! we been asking that since ever ahahah

Maschine user here. So I think there is a real company size issue here too. Akai is just.. bigger. More divisions, more hardware etc.NI does focus more on the sound development side, but the maschine software with the hardware truly is amazing. Its CLOSE. Incredibly enfuriating to know that just a few small changes are all that's needed and they haven't been done yet... all that said. The workflow is still top notch. The integrated soudns are top notch, and 99 percent of what we ask maschine to add to the software can be done in a 3rd party plugin that we are already using or would likely choose to use anyways.

Love my maschine. Wish it didn't kill CPU as much, wish you could chop from the AU so you can get the serato experience, wish there was some tools for auto note detection etc. and wish automation was better. Other than that... I don't have any major complaints. There is always going to be small things with any platform, and of course there will be things for each individual depending on experience/genre... All of the above though are fixed when you integrate with a DAW/use third party plugins... so I get why they haven't done it.

The groundwork with the alliances with plugin companies like izotope etc have me very excited for what they can accomplish moving forward, but I also think right now.. shit you gotta do what the money is telling you. NI bread and butter is their sound design and virtual instruments, and in a down economy its hard to justify putting tons of money into a venture that may or may not pay off.

A new maschine studio plus would be dope, with some new layouts for 3.0, im still rocking the MK2.

1. Use of certain third party plugins that don’t use heavy cpu consumption but sounds amazing (I.e Airwindows. For what is worth the saturation and drive algo of maschine + doesn’t sound that good)

2. A sort of integrated plugin that allow filter, eq and saturation on the same screen. They already have the individual elements maybe present in a way that is more seamless ( not flicking pages)

3. Just a better workflow of arranging … I know they can do better

4. One that is very important for me would be ability to connect let’s say an iPhone via data usb input and have 2 ways in/out (like SP404)

5. Ability to have sort of Bluetooth sync / transfer tool to take in and out sounds / resamples or anything from the computer into the specific pad / group in standalone without having to be in computer mode (I think ABLETON push 3 has something where you start a beat in there press a key in ableton and that prompts an instant upload of the project you started in standalone to be recalled in the daw, that’s all wireless… I see this as the next go to way of swapping in sounds or getting quick stems to let’s saw a project on a daw, other than maschine)

5. Support of a usb QWERTY keyboard with mapped shortcuts I.e press “s” goes to sample page, key arrows serve as start end selectors (isla s2400 does this) also to rename stuff more quickly etc.

6. Support of a custom / cpu friendly version of their play series and other plugins of
Their ecosystem to be used in standalone

7. A simple / global purge unused sounds to have a better cpu management

8. Easier and visually cohesive send return / fx slots channels so that this becomes easier to do

9. Visual analysis / feedback of of dynamics / eq / reverb plugins etc

10. Better file management system

The ability to make your own chord progressions in chord set mode (Similar to how Scaler2 works)
Midi plugin chaining
The ability to "strum" thru the notes in a chord in chords mode using the touch strip
Global Scale mode
Performance FXs on the sound pad level instead of the group
Better Piano Roll
Expansion Pack Sound preview that just plays the sound on each pad instead of playing the demo song
