The Coleman Sundome is an excellent family camping tent. In this video we provide a Coleman Sundome rain test, a Coleman Sundome storm test and a Coleman Sundome tent review in order to determine if the Coleman Sundome is among the best waterproof tents for camping. So how does the Coleman Sundome tent review stack up? During the Coleman Sundome rain test we had 2.5 inches of heavy rain fall over 4 hours with winds up to 30mph. Specifically we completed a Coleman Sundome 4-person tent rain test, but can assume that the 6 person and the two person would have similar tent storm rain test results. The Coleman Sunsome storm test was a success, no tent leaks, no moisture and no structural failures of the Coleman Sundome Tent were observed during the tent rain tests. If you are heading out in a Coleman tent in storm, you can rest assure you will stay dry while camping in the Coleman Sundome.

The Coleman Sundome comes in three sizes: Coleman Sundome 2-person tent , Coleman Sundome 4-person tent and the Coleman Sundome 6-person tent. The 4 and 6 person tents are available in dark room technology options as well. In terms of waterproof tents for camping, the Coleman Sundome is one of the best waterproof tents on a budget. It's wide availability and ease of set up make the Coleman Sundome an appealing family camping tent option for both beginner camping adventurers and veteran campers. The Coleman Sundome Tent review score for this tent was high based on the Coleman Sundome's performance in the Coleman Sundome rain tent which saw heavy sustained rain and high winds. The Sunsome is a great Coleman tent. Check out the Coleman Tent rain test for a complete story of how this Coleman tent performed in the storm!

I enjoy my Coleman tent. I don't just trust the fabric. I treat all of my tents and tarps with 3M Scotch Guard to ensure staying dry! Great review!

I got a Coleman Sundome 4 person tent some time around 2005. One time I went camping with it near a lake and there were severe thunderstorms in the weather forecast. The forecast was accurate. This tent was my only shelter against high winds, heavy wind-driven rain, thunder and lightning. If I were to guess, I'd say the wind was around 40-45 mph with gusts even higher at times. I was inside with the tent poles moving back and forth in the wind and the very loud, continuous sound of rain pounding against the fly and sides of the tent. I was pretty nervous that the tent would fail at any moment, but it stood strong and not a single drop of that wild rain got inside. I still have and use that tent now. I would not hesitate to recommend the Coleman Sundome tents to anyone looking for a very good value and some peace of mind when sleeping outdoors, miles from home.

This was a great review of a really good tent. I've owned 2 Sundomes in the last 7 years and the review is very accurate. This review should do a great thing, help new campers connect with a great tent at a great price and get out there to a campground for some fun.

The Coleman 6 person tent is a classic tent with a new twist. You know you trust Coleman tents as they have always delivered very good tents over the decades they have made them. My first tent was a Coleman 2 person A frame with air vents on each side.used the tent for 10years through out the 1970s and 80s .always worked very well. 2 weeks ago I bought the Coleman 6 person sun dome tent, can't wait to try it out.

Great video! All the info was well stated and it is good to see a real life test of this tent. My only decision now is whether to go for the 3 or 4 person tent for my 11 & 8 year old sons and myself. Thanks!

This was great! My mom got me a Sundome in maybe 1995, and I've been using it ever since, but lately it's really showing its age. I will almost certainly get another one after seeing this. Glad to know they're still getting it right.

Thank you for this review. I’m currently sleeping in this exact tent that’s sleeps 6. It is raining very hard currently 3am. My man is sleeping cozy next to me while I’m freaking out if this is going to leak. We have all our stuff in here including my suitcase, purse etc…. I got very nervous, but it is dry in here. Now with this video I realize I can hop back in bed & relax knowing it will not leak. I got this bed for $80 at BJS FYI.

I have 3 Colman tents one 8 man cabin tent one 2 man sundome and one 6 man tent. I got both sundoms on Amazon used I picked used because they goto Colman USA for any repairs and replacing missing parks they bring it up to standards. You see most of Colman products are nit made in China and i think is not up to Colman's standards we expect but used tents sold by Colman on Amazon are much better then the new tents because of the refitting at Colman USA after the tent is fixed up they even put it in a new box then they send it to Amazon storage for resell. I have has no problems only thing I has to replace the stakes because I live in Florida and the ground is sandy so i need steaks that can hold up. As for high winds if stake down well and tight no problems have had it in 50+ mph wind gusts (note I use extra parachute chord and vary strong stakes to tie it down in bad weather) in vary heavy thunderstorms no water in side and tent has no rips love my tents. But the best thing about buying a used Colman on Amazon is its cheaper I saved $30 dollars over a new tent.

Went camping in the rain in the mountains 2 days ago with this exact tent and can confirm - bone dry! Definitely worth the price and perfect for car camping. Four trips now and no complaints :)

I have a Coleman Flatwoods 4 which is very similar. It is a good value. I actually end up using it a lot more than my expensive backpacking stuff.

Coleman Company was a fantastic brand for outside and inside camping needs.

The company has been sold to Newell Brands. Little different now.

We have this tent; the space inside, ability to actually stand up and have enough room to move and store essentials is EXCELLENT.
The ventilation is also excellent;
It does have what I CONSIDER a BAD flaw; The -- RAIN FLY ---- it is water proof, works just like she is showing in the down poor BUT-- The BAD design of the Rain fly --NOT EXTENDING
MUCH further DOWN THE SIDES-- it IS IMPERATIVE in RAIN-- that the rain water SHED down and OUT FURTHER --- from the TENT! We have camped MANY times in the rain and rain has come in the FRONT window-- a DIRECT result of the FRONT AND BACK of the rain fly -- NOT extending FAR ENOUGH.

The WATER that she does NOT SHOW-- from the heavy rain that goes OFF THE RAIN FLY-- DOES AND WILL go VERY close AND UNDER your tent-- yes, you should have a TARP under your tent,
BUT -- if the Rain Fly-- extended ALMOST to the bottom of the side of the tent--- as it DOES in BETTER tents --- you WILL see the water STAY further away FROM your tent NOT CONTINUALLY HIT
the PRIMARY SIDES of your tent -- then go UNDER your tent! This ALL causes a damp feeling after a while!
A GOOD Rain Fly will ACT like a SHELL OVER your primary parts of your tent -- this ALSO acts as a DOUBLE WALL-- that is THAT much MORE protection from rain AND COLD!
I can NOT emphasize enough the IMPORTANCE of the Rain Fly going down much further on the SIDES! WATER WILL SEEP under your tent AND your TARP!

Also-- to make this tent better-- they SHOULD have ADDED a VESTIBULE like EXTENSION - on the FRONT of the tent-- that could be staked down EVEN as you stake the corners down-- then you could KEEP boots and other item OUTSIDE -yet under the vestibule!
LASTLY--- it NEEDS (really!!!) ALUMINUM POLES -- NOT fiberglass-- as they WILL SPLIT!

MAKING THE sides of the rain fly LONGER down the sides, more material to make a vestibule type cover to keep boots and more safely outside your tent and-- extend the rain fly 2 or 3 more inches on the FRONT and BACK--- this would also mean a LITTLE longer rain fly pole( from ALUMINUM-- not fiber glass) would make this THEE tent to have for camping, it would be fantastic!

This tent has a LOT of potential! It has room, easy to put up, great ventilation, light weight, GREAT water proofing ( except for the SERIOUS rain fly issue)!
Coleman could up the price, for the upgrade in items and design I mentioned and people would understand and pay for what would be EASY CHANGES!

Having a tough time deciding between the Sundome, Skydome, and Flatwoods II. All seem to be so similar! I like the operable window on the back of the Sundome. The other 2 don’t have that.
