I gotta say, that's very clever! I've used Threshold before. But it never occurred to me to use noise to add depth to the image.

If you want to make the drop shadow solid, add a white background layer under the graphic layer. Threshold maintains a layer's shape so if its blurred its going to remain that way.

Cutting out the threshold effect does not work for me. I make the selection exactly as you showed in the video. But when I fill the area, I get it looks like the original image without the threshold effect applied. Is this due to the configuration of the adjustment layer or what am I doing wrong?
