I just started working for Volkswagen in St. Petersburg Florida. To close the trunk, hold the the two areas in side of the trunk with your palms. Pull downward with some force as you swing your arms toward you. The trunk will close without getting your hands dirty. Voila!

For the trunk question, in Ireland people swing the trunk down fast and take their hand away about half way down hope that helped you. Also i was wondering if there is a Hyundai dealer anywhere close by so that you could maybe do some videos on them.Thanks for the great content and keep up the humor. ;-)

I think the handles are safety features for kidnapping situations or getting locked in trunk. So in the event, God forbid, someone should be in the trunk, they can escape.

I drive a VW Jetta with trunk handles exactly like these ones and I love them. Kind of like how you said, I grab the handles and kind of filing the trunk down while taking my hand out of the way. It works well, I've never had any issues getting my arm caught in the trunk or anything. You don't need to fling it down very hard for it to close. And since you're flinging it down, you don't have the issue of closing it too softly and having it not latch properly. I personally love the feature.
