How multiplate clutches work! (Animation)

preview_player
Показать описание

Multi-plate clutches work with several friction discs, unlike dry friction clutches used in most cars with manual transmissions where only one friction disc with two friction surfaces is used to transmit power from the engine to the transmission.

Contents
1) Difference to dry friction clutches in cars
2) Friction discs and steel discs
3) Clutch basket
4) Engaging the clutch through pressure
5) Pressure plate, coil springs and push rod
6) Power transmission from engine to gearbox

have 1976 Triumph Bonneville which was rarely used(1128 miles)Sometimes it starts without any problems on kicking(one kick)..However lately in trying to kick start the crank does not rotate on pushing down. There is severe resistance like grabbing(in neutral of course) on kicking down..DRIVING me NUTS to figure out!! HELP SVP

The video is very good and clears all the things with a very precise animation :-)
My kind request is you can try to duck the sound of background when the narrator is speaking because the background music is bit too loud which makes it a little difficult to concentrate on the narrators voice ... but the overall video is excellent ..Kudos (y)

I agree with others, very clear understandable explanation about how the multi-disk clutch pack works, thanks.

Brilliant work, be nice to mention a few other elements ( 1 ) friction material sometimes cork ( 2 ) sometimes in an oil bath, to remove heat ( 3 ) may be used to reduce overall diameter .

Thanks man, I was really stuck when I was studying and was in doubt why torque increased but the force remained same in the equations for multi disk vs single disk clutch.. after seeing this i finally understood..

When the pressure isn't applied the metal plates and friction plates magically separate... Every video I've watched never mentions how the plates seperate and why they don't continue to stick together after the pressure is removed...

I don't understand how this works in relation to a torque converter.
