The video explores the following questions:
What are the benefits of using Access instead of Excel?
What is a flat-file and what is a relational database?

THE COURSE
This introduction to Microsoft Access course provides the perfect foundation for developing expertise. Even though it is a beginner’s course, delegates will build two fully functioning relational databases. I started my Microsoft Access training career back in the late 1990s and over the years have fine-tuned his content and delivery to culminate in this course.

The course has been designed to be as hands-on as possible. It is project-based and takes you through the steps involved in building an Access relational database from the ground up.

Topics Covered in the Course
Relational Database Theory – what is a relational database and how does it compare to the way data is stored in Excel, for example?

Tables – designing tables to store data. Setting data types and field properties.

Importing Data – importing data into your Access database stored in Excel or as text files.

Creating Relationships Between Tables – understanding primary and foreign keys and creating relationships between tables.

Design Forms – that look great and function well.

Select Queries – understand how to set AND/OR criteria, use comparison operators and wildcards.

Design Reports – that look professional.

Create a Front-End for your Database – create a navigation form with command buttons that open your forms and reports. Set database options that control what appears/doesn’t appear to your users when they open the database.

The course was created using Access 365 (2019) but will work for earlier versions.

Finally the presenter that speaks clear English, minimal talking, no added fluff, right to the point with relatable examples. A lot of tutorials could learn from this. Thanks for the video.

I made an excel database and the links break every time and computer shuts down unexpectedly. I need to keep date enter into word files or pdfs that open as I open a link. Which is better for my case, excel or access. On excel all I need it to display the information and link the information that I see to the file.

Thank you so much for the video. I have a question. I use my access database daily, but today when I close my form that has subforms, I get the message "No current record". I don't know what has happened, it was not doing till yesterday.

The first form has 2 subform. I used to get two of the message "No Current Record". when I deleted the first subform, I only got one message but when I deleted the second one, I did not get none.
I have been working with database for 15 years, I never got this message until yesterday. one more thing, I also get it when I hit add new record. did microsoft access change the coding? Will you please, help solve this problem? Thanks in advance

In Access. Relationship can be formed between two or more tables.
Access is more reliable to create complete searchable, data software.

Access works on this four concepts.

1. Forms
2. Tables
3. Queries
4. Reports
