*WHY SIGN UP TO PATREON?*
No reviewer can benchmark best products or their favourites on YouTube, for fear of alienating brands away from loaning products. I feature broadly competitive products on YouTube but 'best' does exist in the confines of preference, objective comparison and consensus opinion on one level , and 'absolute best' that most will go along with on another. It means you don't fall down rabbit holes of buying products that, relatively speaking, don't perform as well. I don't give awards which can be misleading by overlap with newer awards, and not being capable of responding to change as the product goalposts change. Also the model of monetising awards isn't one I want to follow so I can be independent and not influenced to say a product is say 'outstanding' because I know a brand would pay for the privilege of such an award, which is how many reviewers monetise. Ideally I want to be sponsored by and consider my Patreon audience as my customers and if I can get to 300 Patreon subscribers, I can sustain 13th Note but at the same time be a force for trust, honesty and credibility in this industry (which is one of my original aims)

*WANT PERSONAL ADVICE?*

*WHAT IS AN UNSPONSORED AND UNPAID VIDEO?*
This is an unsponsored and unpaid video which means no company other than CHoco Sound is sponsoring the video (and I am not receiving any payment). Also too that CHoco Sound themselves are not paying me or sponsoring me to make this video. All competitive products that are featured On YouTube is irrespective of sponsorships and I reserve the journalistic right to feature products or not.

*HOW LONG DID THE VIDEO TAKE TO MAKE?*
In this case the time to make it was approx. 50 hours of work of research, listening to gear and swapping out systems, watching and reading other reviews after forming opinions, seeking information from brands, chatting to brands, scripting, setting up cameras and filming pieces to camera, shooting b-roll, editing all clips with creative clips in software like Blender & After Effects, creating the thumbnails, publishing to YouTube, creating articles.
This all means video production is very hard work and another reason why I ask people to be my Patreon.

*NOTES*
*1 COMPARISONS OF UNREVIEWED GEAR : Please don't ask me how a product compares to another which I haven't reviewed, as it isn't possible to comment on such products I haven't tested. Check out my website for reviews of products I have completed instead (hit the review tag, and separate tags).

*2 MORE ADVICE : If you are asking me how does X product compare to Y that I HAVE reviewed, or how does something sound beyond comment in videos, or system / further advice, please sign up to Patreon (small amounts!) or make contributions via PayPal where we text chat or Zoom etc. I can't answer all questions free on YouTube! I only charge £25 for an hour consultation on Zoom of all my experiences, which is cheaper than many.

*3 ABUSE POLICY : I encourage and like debate, and constructive criticism, but people who abuse or troll me, or my subscribers or commenters, post very negative and non constructive and uncorroborated comments designed to put me or others down (where they don't explain themselves), or they could be perceived as such, as well as aggressive comments / hate, or pit my subscribers against me, get their comments removed and I hide them from commenting again. I don’t need the hassle of these people for all the work I put in! Again I don’t mind people who disagree with me, where they explain, or indeed debate, but I tend to delete comments that are not substantiated where the poster doesn’t explain themselves e.g just ‘this amp is really bad’ as it doesn't add to the discussion and detracts from my efforts

Been watching the reviews on this little gem.
Research revealed that it had a low microfarads capacity of only 2200. “ Reservoir capacity”.
I emailed Ken G from Kinki studios and mentioned this. I got an email back from him with good news. He thanked me for my comment and said they made an improvement in reservoir capacity. Now 6800 microfarads. He went on to say that it was a good improvement and needed.

Hi Simon. I’m just wondering if price is no object will you prefer this Choco EMEI to Hegel H190. I want to know which will be tricky to pairings with different speakers and other gears. Thanks!

Very cool looking. That green gunmetal is eye catching too. Like the glass top panel too but agree the top is strange. Looks like it should open up. Thanks for another informative video.

I really appreciate you highlighting some music that is meaningful to me! I have the original Trans Europe Express album on vinyl! I have been looking for an integrated to pair with my DJ equipment (Technics 1200's and an Allen and Heath Xone mixer. Also running Native Instruments Traktor Software), but I am continuously frustrated by all these reviews waxing poetic about the wonderful warm mids for female vocals and gently rolled off treble. This does NOT work with House Music and Electronica! I may just have to go the way of your Patreon, Simon. It's like none of these reviewers have ever been to a night club or rave in their life :)

Hello, Hope you can help me with this.. Im going to buy my very first DAC and have this amp. Which one you recommend? A "resolving detailed" one or "musical" one? My speakers are somewhat neutral, so I'm worried if this amp combined with a warm DAC is going to be too much. Thanks for your time.

Why does muffled sound mixed with noise and distortion always give good reviews all over YouTube?

Thank you for the review. I have just bought Choco Sound amp to pair with my old Monitor Audio RS6 floor speakers along with Gustard R26 dac. Do you think this match is ok for slow jazz and female vocal music.

Any comment if this will be a good match for Kef R3 meta? I like vocals to be slightly forward and I mostly listen to jazz, soul and so on. Looking for adding more richness and body to the sound of the kefs. Currently using old arcam A19 amp which is doing well but i kind of expect that more powerful amp will elevate the speakers ...

I wonder at what price point one can definitely say that's what the artist intended it to sound like ?

How would you describe the differences in sound between this Choco and the Kinki M1 integrated?
Thanks

Hey I see a picture of Chapman. Where is that signal coming from. Looks sweet AF!

Could use some more capacitors but still seems good value.

Hi Simon, would like to ask you a bit more of your impression of this amp with your PMC Twenty5 23. I find that speaker is a little harder to drive in my system. Does the CHoco have any issues since it's filter capacitance is lower than other amplifiers? If you have any more impressions I would like to hear them.

Your ‘partner in crime’ the ever decent British Audiophile mentioned a ‘weird nasal sound at times’ (paraphrased). Did you notice this as well? Or is it related to the description of female vocals?
