How To Look Natural and Confident In YOUR YouTube Videos

Looking natural in videos is something that some people struggle with. In this video I show you three common methods you can use to say your script in a more natural and relaxed way.

The first method you can use to say your script more naturally is simply to have someone read lines of your script to you. Then, all you have to do is repeat what they say in your own, naturally sounding way.

The second method to looking natural on video when you read your script is the read and recite technique.With this one, all you have to do is read lines from your script, then look at the camera and say them. This is extremely easy to do and is the method I personally use when making my videos.

The third method is outlining. This is a great way to make natural looking videos because you are reading bullet points or going through an outline and the rest is coming from your head in a natural way. It's like giving a speech but depending on how you do your videos this method might take more preparation than you have time for.

Those are the three methods I recommend for looking natural on video. Start using one today and watch your presentation look more relaxed and natural right away!

When I started scripting my videos, I would make myself say each sentence 3 different times in 3 different tones, then I'd pick which ones worked best... ALSO I occasionally would read my script through before recording for practice

I simply mirror-flip Powerpoint slides with bullet points and use them as my teleprompter software to help me look natural and speak confidently in front of camera because I always have the whole concept in mind and I don't follow word-for-word.

You never mentioned a teleprompter - are you telling me you never use one?? Maybe in 2014 they were so old school they never worked effectively, but I've just started to use one now and it has changed everything... yes I have to learn to loosen up and 'look thru the words' but that will come..it has revolutionised my on camera performance and confidence.

I notice in my retention 50% of people drop out in the first 1min. need to stop jibber-jabbering and get on with the content. tip #3 I do at 99% of the time.

I really hate jump cuts. to me it just seems unprofessional. I prefer using either a 2 camera setup or shoot 4k and export 1080 and cut between 2 different compositions.

but hey that's just my opinion. :-)

I think I’ll try getting physically loose before starting my videos. When I’m recording I tend to feel tight in the chest.

I was wondering though, do you ever plan to do a video covering video thumbnails? It seems like one of those topics some people get it right, others under-utilize it, others go a bit over the top, and many just don't use them at all.
