I’m doing Pre-Master in History in Netherlands. It’s a big shift for me because I changed my major from Public Relations to a new one.

I realized that I have absolutely NO CLUE HOW TO INTERPRET SOURCES 😢😭

I appreciate your support

Is there a way to analyze the context of a secondary resourse? Should I talk bout the time when the secondary resource is created or the time period that the resource talked about?

Just a question, would CCTV or security footage be counted as a primary source if it captured a certain event or?

my Prof wants me to write a 750 words doc analysis when the doc itself is literally 749 words :) do I have to write my opinion or a response to the doc?

Is the value of a historical source tied to the purpose of which it is being used. Can a biased and unhistorical report of an event, be used as a valid source when examining the perception of that event. For an example, lets say im writing a paper on the the perception of and reactions to the russian revolution in america. Can i use a biased book about the russian revolution written by an american, as a source, even though the book is bad and represents the event in a biased way. Is the validity of a historical source context dependent. Or is it not history anymore if i study the reactions and perceptions to events and not the event itself?
