This is not right, the first chord is D9 (II), not A-6 One can sub for the other in passing but not as the first chord, rooting the II V is crucial to the tonality of the melody. The way Jobim did it, did not play I chord C after the G- it is not played until the end of the entire progression. It uses a flat V sub for the C passing to the F∆ not an Fdim.
