Tauriel is quite fascinating and the rebel! Makes me wonder if she's the reason why Legolas really joined the Fellowship, and not just because he's friends with Aragorn. Even just one person - whether it's an Elf, Dwarf, Man, or Hobbit - can change the course of history. I can't wait to watch this movie! :D

I wonder if she's started to change Legolas' prejudice and perceptions here. It's still early, even when he leaves them to drive the Orcs of Laketown, but it could just be a slow process. He's even still a bit prejudiced in the Fellowship until later, but it can happens. Maybe we'll get something in the next film that shows his beginning change of heart.

On a side note: I really, really, really hope that Tauriel doesn't die in TBOFA. It would be great if she defended Mirkwood and was in the attack on Dol Guldor that Thranduil led during the War of the Ring, or if she is overcome with grief over Kili's death and sails for the Grey Havens. It would explain why she's not seen or mentioned in the LotR.

I would of liked it more if tauriel died instead of kili, she's a really stupid character. They might of thought adding a strong female character might make the movies less sexist but then they ruined that by giving her a really cheesy romance subplot.

I wonder why did they make Legolas look so ... huge. I mean in LOTR (which is supposed to be later) he is kinda slim and athletic noble elf. In TH he looks totally different

Regardless of how bad the Hobbit movies were or how this is not even in the books, I think this is a pretty good line "It is our fight... are we not part of this world?"

I feel like that applies perfectly to our own real world and the issues we're facing right now...

I thought tauriel was a great edition. her character made sense in the terms of the story and her character had a purpose, so she wasn't there just to be a female character that is pointless.
Oh and legolas: tolkien fans who say he should not be in this movie because he wasn't in the book are not true tolkien fans. In the whole tolkien lore, legolas is the son of thranduil the elvenking, just like in this movie, so it makes sense legolas is here. I think it would make less sense if legolas WASN'T in the movie.

I don't like Tauriel. The only reason she was added in this movie was because it wouldn't be so male-dominated story and that there would be a "strong" female character. Adding Galadriel in this trilogy was enough for me and  she's really strong and original Tolkien character unlike Tauriel. It really annoys me how people these days think that the only way woman or a man can be strong is by having a weapon in her/his hand.
