The irony in this part of the film is that SRK was playing a struggling actor and Deepika was a huge superstar...in reality, SRK was a huge star when this film came out and this was Deepika's Bollywood debut.

Younger people may not realise but this song was a huge technological leap and innovation of that time. How they managed to recreate the old icons in such a realistic manner will always fascinate me. And then to actually have Deepika interact with the recreations was the cherry on top!! People rightfully remember SRK as a one of a kind star and actor but what he also is a tech maverick!! His work with Red Chillies pretty much revolutionised the use of visual effects in the industry during the early 2000s (when this was still a relative novelty in Hindi cinema). I often think about this song and the cycle rickshaw sequence from Main Hoon Na as examples of how dynamic and ahead of time SRK was when it came to his vision for his movies. No small coincidence that both of these films were helmed by Farah Khan, whose wit and instinct are sorely missed in today’s barren landscape of an industry!
