Sri Krishna says one has to do Yajna, dana and tapah without any attachment towards the act or its results, only then it can be a sadhana for further spiritual elevation. Such a renouncer of the results of action is wise and is a satvik sadhaka.

Rajasic and tamasic people do not perform these basic disciplines either due to ignorance of its benefits or due to discomforts caused to the body.
