Using 100% wax-Free Shellac to seal a small knot.

Sealing the wood with shellac before painting the latest in my Smile and Don’t Expect so Much series, this one is version 13. I use select white pine in my work, but occasionally it’s hard to avoid a piece with a small knot. In this case before painting I use 100% wax-free shellac to seal the knot and any nearby areas where there might be hidden pitch or resin in the wood that could later work its way through and cause staining of the paint.
