Yea, kind of work but
If you are using google contacts, to retrieve the contact, just click on the 3lines by the right hand side of your screen and click on trash to recover the contacts. This works if it’s less than 30 days you deleted the contacts

Did not work for me!! In Lists iPhone Contacts still says 0. Help! I don't use Google on my phone so there are no contacts there.
