I can’t imagine using any of these vehicles as command vehicles or Fire Direction Centers. I’ve experienced doing both in the American 3rd Infantry Division (M) during the Invasion of Iraq. We had M577 Command Post Carriers for those jobs where men could actually stand up inside vehicle, have computers (like the AFATADS), commo, etc. These Russian vehicles seem way too cramped to be used effectively.

I like the BMD, unfortunately its layout is simply too inefficient. Lacking armor can be excused due to its intended role but poor layout cannot be. The CVRT is the most similar to the BMD yet it has much better design overall.

It is actually a Russian Humvvy. It is better than an SUV in many ways, but it is not an APC or tank.

What surprised me is the fact that Russia (- and also Ukraine) stored so much of the equipment from Soviet times.
Most countries in the "West" haven't kept most of their equipment from the cold war as it seems.
So now there is an ongoint war in Ukraine in which on the one hand thousands and thousand of old vehicles and other old equipment have been used and destroyed while on the other hand it is a conflct which somewhat revolutionized modern warfare with the use of highly modern drones and ammunitions as well as electronic warfare as it isn't like the wars between the "West" and countries like Iraq, Serbia or Afghanistan in which there was a bombing campaign by the airforce and then a short "official" ground war without real resistance. (- Apart from what often happened afterwards: a very long guerilla war.)
So what is going on in Ukraine is something which has never been seen before in any war I think.
