Kindly watch the video carefully, we are not multiplying here to get 50 as the answer, we are trying to get a number(combination of digits). And we are adding the digits of a number (1+4) = 5, whatever digit we are getting we are doubling that digit to get a next digit, i.e., double of 5 will be 10 and since we cannot place two digits at unit's place or one's place, so we're using 1 as the carry for the ten's place to form a number.

Keep learning.

We can write also like this :
12×3=36 [ where, 1+2=3]
14×5=70 [where, 1+4=5]

the correct logic here would be adding the two digits of the given number then multiplying it with the same given number.
12 --> (1+2) x 12 = 36
14 --> (1+4) x 14 = 70

(1+2)=3*12=36
(1+4)=5*14=70 is the right answer 👍

Why should not we approach like this,
12×2+12=36, 14×2+12=40.

How about this ?
( 1 + 2 ) 12 = 36
( 1 + 4 ) 12 = 60
The answer is (c) 60

Squar of (1+2)=9=3+6( which is addition of second number 36)
So square of(1+4)=25=2+5=7=7+0 (addition of 70)

But we can also write
12 × 2 = 24 + 12 = 36
14 × 2 = 28 + 12 = 40
