I'm amazed by how quiet it is there. Everyone is very focused and dedicated to their own tasks. What an impressive operation.

Fascinating. Semi-automation with expert technicians making one of the finest engines ever designed.

I visited several plants in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen when I picked up my 991.2 Turbo S you get to see a lot but at a distance. This was a better view.

Double row timing chains I see, didn't think manufacturers still did this on modern engines, looks like it's going to be a mechanically reliable unit

Love it. Reminds me when I built car models. Whole lot of engineering.

That engine is a thing of beauty. A very quiet and clean production line, and looked like an all male assembly team. I worked once in a machining factory, making same widget day after day, drove me mad.

This factory looks nice bright and clean. By the looks of the metal it looks high quality. You don’t see that at Chevy

With regards to the M96 engine, another issue that can cause cracks in the head is based in the coolant water pump. As the water pump ages, pieces of the internal plastic impeller can break off and these plastic bits will circulate within the cooling system. If these plastic pieces become lodged in the many small coolant passages within the head they could partially to fully obstruct the flow of coolant at that location. The combination of debris and loss of coolant flow can create localized hot spots in the head but can yield the same result, cracks in the head.

I wouldn't mind working at one of these engine building plants. I feel like it would be relaxing.

Fascinating glimpse intothe inner workings of the Prsche factory but it would have been so much more interesting if we had been given just a little narration to explain what the men were doing and what processes were happening at each stage.

I used to work for GMAD (General Motors Assembly Division) in 1978. I read that a bunch of Scientists found that factory workers listening to music performed better, could work longer hours and were generally much happier than factory workers that had no music. Of course they could not pick their type of music, but they listened because that's what was playing. I find it difficult to believe that none of these factories pipe music through the PA system. It's probably quiet because there are cameras and people watching, I'd guess after everybody is gone the music is turned back on.
