Linkin Park dropped their debut album, “Hybrid Theory,” in 2000. It was a mix of metal, hip-hop, and electronica, held together by a combination of Mike Shinoda’s rap skills and Chester Bennington’s powerful lead vocals. In spite of being lumped in with other “nu-metal” bands of the time, Linkin Park set itself apart with its lyrics and unique style.
The band quickly gained success — “Hybrid Theory” was declared a best seller by 2001 and has since been certified 12x Platinum. But a lot has gone on behind the scenes for Linkin Park and its members. From the struggle to land a record deal to coping with the devastating loss of their singer, this is the untold truth of Linkin Park.

For the younger generation in the early 2000s, Linkin Park was a conduit for their anxiety, frustration, and heartbreak. There are grief, pain, and defiance that sets the tone for their songs, the acceptance that there is inner conflict from within but can be spoken loudly and angrily. Linkin Park is one of greatest band ever existed. Rest in Peace, Chester.

For me, linkin park is like the eagles and the beatles of 2000s.
No one can deny their impact on hip hop, rock and new metal music.
It's so sad how the band came to an end.
Thanks to Mike, Chester and every LP member for sharing their art!!

Imagine Linkin Park without Mike Shinoda. They wouldn't be as iconic without him. Kudos to Chester and the rest of the band for sticking to him. I've been a fan of Linkin Park since Hybrid Theory. RIP Chester.

Most relatable and diverse music ever. They mixed everything from orchestra, rap and scream-o into one genius vibe. 💕

Chester truly had a voice that was/is to this day unmatched, unrivaled and was an absolute gift. So raw. A voice that can be brutal and piercing but bueatiful and soothing all at the same time. The world lost a once in a lifetime kind of voice when he passed. May he rest.

Chester’s passing affected more than just the loss of a band member. I miss him so much. Battling depression on a daily basis is hard enough but when you get to a point in life that you’re so tired of the fight, I get it….

RIP Chester. You are sorely missed but will always be remembered, never forgotten.

I remember finding a scratched up Cd when I was moving from one dorm to another and picked it up. I played it after everything was unpacked so I could relax. I was going through a hard time and every single song spoke to me through my pain and gave me comfort. It was like the band knew me in such a way which I had never felt before. Every song became a creed that I carried with me with honor. That album was Meterora. I knew who Linkin Park was but that day they became my favorite band and they still are to this day. You spoke to my very soul that day Chester and I thank you for getting me through one of the roughest times of my life. Rest In Heaven Chester.

During "spirit week" of my freshman year of high school, back in '94-'95, someone at my school somehow got the go-ahead for Chester and the band Grey Daze to play live during our lunch breaks. Because of my school's population they had to split our lunch in half, with freshman and sophomores going first, followed by the juniors and seniors, with a 17-minute overlap.

Needless to say, the teachers whose rooms let out directly into the quad were not happy. And on top of that pretty much the entirety of the freshmen and sophomores ditched 4th hour to watch them play the second set. They got about 10 minutes into the second lunch hour before one of the teachers came out and started unplugging everything she could. Absolutely epic way to get shutdown considering the crescendo of voices protesting how "lame" she was! LoL!!

I never got to see LP play live even though I'm a born and raised Phoenician. But if I was given the choice between seeing them live every time they came to town, and getting to watch Chester play a once in a lifetime show, I'd pick this _Every Single Time!_

This defined the 00's generation. I've been listening since 2007 and i can tell no band has left such an impression on me and i felt literally devastated when i heard the news on 20 july 2017 that Bennington died by suicide after seeing the perform live a mere 2 weeks ago. I really had to cope with that news.
